Case Study: Neurofeedback for Emotional Dysregulation
Client profile
Name: [Ellie]
Age: 7
Presenting Issues: Problems with emotional regulation, prone to outbursts at home and at school. Problems sleeping
Initial Brain Map (qEEG)
Ellie’s brain map showed a deficit in fast waves activity and in particular alpha waves. It also showed elevated theta waves, a pattern which is often associated with attention problems and impulsivness. A deficit of alpha waves is associated with difficulties in relaxation, emotional regulation and mental integration. Alpha waves are most prominent in calm, alert but restfull states. They help to reguate sensory input, emotions and thought flow.
